Using Sports Science to Propel Your Athlete

Our team of sports performance professionals focuses on enhancing the athlete’s performance on the field while decreasing the risk of injury. Our integrated functional approach allows us to implement performance plans to our athletes with the goal of achieving the highest levels of performance.

We use sports science with our performance training programs for our athletes to help eliminate over-training and achieve optimal results.
Our state-of-the-art technology, Optogait, is an innovative system used for movement analysis and functional assessment.

This program creates a true synergy between physical therapy and sports performance, thus ensuring advanced performance training, exceptional communication, and education, all of which will lead to superior results for the athlete.

Meet Our Team

Matthew Cloutier, PT, DPT, CSCS, PES, CES, USAW
Director

mattIn 2003, I graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Exercise Physiology.  While there I also played tennis for four years.  I attended East Carolina University, and graduated in 2005 with a Master of Physical Therapy degree.  In 2014, I completed my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professionals.

In 2008, I decided to start my own company, Goal1 Performance, LLC.  For years, I was able to train various athletes from different types of sports such as football, lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, and swimming.  I had much success in helping them reach their goals while maintaining longevity within their sport.  In 2013, I decided to close my company to create a sports performance program within Kinetic Physical Therapy.  This helped to bridge the gap between sports performance and PT as well as expanding my approach towards training athletes by using sports science and technology.

Currently, I am a senior staff physical therapist at Kinetic Physical Therapy and the Director of Sports Performance.  As both a PT and Sports Performance Director, I have the unique ability to change the way athletes are trained and treated.  I use sports science and objective data to properly train and monitor our athletes to minimize overtraining and enhance performance.  This program creates a true synergy between physical therapy and sports performance, thus ensuring advanced performance training, exceptional communication and education – all of which will lead to superior results for the athlete.  I do have aspirations of conducting research that can help apply sport science to sports performance and physical therapy thus ensuring the longevity of our athletes.

In order to develop further, I obtained my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification – CSCS from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as my Level 1 Sports Performance certification from USA Weightlifting.  I also have obtained a Corrective Exercise Specialist – CES specialization, and a Performance Enhancement Specialist – PES specialization. Both are from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

When I am not working, I am spending time with my wife, Brittany and our three children, Addison, Tyler, and Grayson.  I like to be active by running, lifting weights, playing soccer and tennis, and watching my favorite sports teams especially FC Barcelona.

Jordan Stone, BS, CSCS, USAW-L1SP
Performance Coach

jordanI graduated from Messiah College with a B.S. in Applied Health Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy in 2015. I played Men’s Lacrosse for all four years, through which I began an interest in Strength and Conditioning coaching as I had opportunities to develop programs for the team.  I began my coaching experience in the summer term for High Point University working with both Men’s and Women’s teams. I spent the most time with Lacrosse, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, and Track and Field. This experience continued to nurture my passion for athletics as a whole, not just one specific sport. I love learning new intricacies of different sports and learning how to best help develop athletes in their specific sports. I have gone on to earn my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as my Level 1 Sports Performance Certification from United States Weightlifting.

Currently I work as the Sports Performance Coach for the Sports Performance Division of Kinetic Physical Therapy. I am in charge of developing the programs as well as directly coaching every athlete that comes into our program. Given the opportunity to work so closely with our athletes, I am also able to give a more holistic approach to training. As much as possible I strive to create an environment that is both physically and mentally healthy for athletes of all ages and backgrounds. More and more research is coming out to back this type of model for training, and through my experience we get the best results when catering to our athletes in such a manner.

Outside of work, my interests are spread far and wide. I love to go out and compete in different sports and enjoy testing my limits by running in the occasional Tough Mudder. I am an avid reader, love to travel, and actively seek to deepen my personal faith journey. Lastly, I’m in the process of helping to plan my wedding with my beautiful fiancée Laura.
